An Act to revise certain definitions in laws regarding physical therapists.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of South Dakota:
Section 1. That § 36-10-18 be AMENDED:
36-10-18. Terms used in §§ 36-10-18 through 36-10-52 mean:
(1) "Board of Examiners," or "board," the South Dakota State Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners;
(2) "Physical therapist,"
a person who
is licensed
in this state,
or who has obtained a compact privilege,
to practice physical therapy under
the provisions of
this chapter;
(3) "Physical therapy," the practice of physical therapy as defined in § 36-10-18.1;
(4) "Physical therapist
assistant," a person who is
a graduate of an accredited physical therapist assistant education
program as determined by the board, who has passed an examination
approved by the board, and who assists
licensed, or who has obtained a compact privilege, to assist
in providing physical therapy services under the supervision of a
physical therapist
under this chapter;
(5) "Physical
therapy advisory committee,""Committee,"
the physical
therapy advisory committee
provided for in this chapter
established in § 36-10-19.
