An appropriation to cover inmate medical expenses.
Section
1.
There is hereby appropriated from the general fund the sum of two million four
hundred thousand dollars ($2,400,000) to the Department of Corrections, or so much thereof as
may be necessary, and in other fund expenditure authority the sum of two million four hundred
thousand dollars ($2,400,000) to the Department of Health, or so much thereof as may be
necessary, to cover the shortfall for the provision of inmate medical expenses.
Section
2.
The Department of Corrections and the Department of Health shall approve
vouchers and the state auditor shall draw warrants to pay expenditures authorized by this Act.
Section
3.
The general funds authorized under section 1 of this Act may be used as matching
funds for federal sources of revenue.
Section
4.
Any amounts appropriated in this Act not lawfully expended or obligated by
June
30, 2004, shall revert in accordance with
§
4-8-21.
Section
5.
Whereas, this Act is necessary for the support of the state government and its
existing public institutions, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this Act shall be in full
force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
