2007-SJR9A
SJR 9 To propose a constitutional amendment to provide for forty-day legislative sessions.
If the constitutional amendment proposed in SRJ9 would pass, the South Dakota Legislature
would convene for a period of not more than forty days every year. Currently, the Legislature
convenes for a period of not more than forty days in odd numbered years, and not more than
thirty-five days in even numbered years. The fiscal implication of this legislation would be
approximately $114,208 in general funds.
After consultation with the Bureau of Finance and Management, pursuant to Joint rule 6C-1.1 of
the South Dakota Legislature, it is estimated that SJR 9 would have the following impact on the
state's finances in FY2008:
