JOURNAL OF THE HOUSE

ONE HUNDRED FIRST SESSION

FIRST DAY

STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA

House of Representatives, Pierre

Tuesday, January 13, 2026

BE IT REMEMBERED, That on the thirteenth day of January, A.D., two thousand twenty six, at the hour of twelve o'clock meridian, being the date and hour fixed by the Constitution of the State of South Dakota, for the convening of the Legislature, the One Hundred First regular session of the House of Representatives of the State of South Dakota was called to order by the Speaker Jon Hansen in the House Chamber in the Capitol, in the city of Pierre, the seat of government.

The following prayer was offered by Pastor Sam Handschke, Faith Lutheran Church, Pierre:

Lord God, you have safely brought us to the beginning of another legislative session. Preside over this chamber throughout this time. Give your wisdom to these representatives, that they might speak and act in ways that fit the character of the office to which you have called them. Grant them endurance, especially as the days become long and they have that one last meeting to attend. Watch over them during their travel so that they can safely reunite with family and friends and return to this chamber to continue their work. May your people prosper as a result of everything that occurs within these walls. I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.

The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States was led by House page Sawyer Avila.

There being no objection, the Secretary of State's certification of members of the House of Representatives for the One Hundred First Legislative Session was placed in the record without reading.
