The meeting was called to order by Representative Boomgarden, Chair.
South Dakota Department of Social Services Agency Review_Secretary Kim Malsam-Rysdon
presented an update of the Department (Handout 1). Deputy Secretaries Lynne Valenti and Amy
Iversen-Pollriesz also provided information and answered questions of Committee members.
South Dakota Department of Human Services Agency Review_Secretary Laurie Gill explained
the Department's missions, guiding principles, and goals. Dan Lusk, Director, Division of
Developmental Disabilities, Ted Williams, Director, SD Developmental Center - Redfield, Grady
Kickul, Director of Rehabilitation Services, and Gaye Mattke, Director of Service to the Blind and
Visually Impaired also provided information relating to their respective Divisions.
