The meeting was called to order by Senator Duniphan, Chairperson

Senator Duniphan introduced the pages and welcomed them.

An informational meeting was held with the following presenting:

1. Chris Nelson, Secretary of State
Mr. Nelson demonstrated the use of the touch screen voting machine. (Handout 1). This was
followed by questions and answers.
2. Yvonne Taylor, Municipal League, SD
Ms. Taylor discussed possible upcoming legislation. This was followed by questions and
answers.
3. Day Breitag, SD Association of County Officials
Ms. Breitag discussed upcoming legislation. This was followed by questions and answers.
4. Gail Brock, SD Association of Towns and Townships
Ms. Brock discussed her organization and its activities.
5. Kris Jacobsen, SD Commission of County Commissioners
Possible upcoming legislation was discussed and followed by questions and answers.
6. Matt Adamski, Chairman of State and Local Government Task Force
Mr. Adamski reviewed the recommendations of the task force.(Handout 2). This was followed by questions and answers.
7. Hank Kosters, Associated School Boards of SD
Mr. Kosters discussed possible upcoming legislation.

MOTION:      THE COMMITTEE DRAFT AND SEND A LETTER TO GOVERNOR ROUNDS ENCOURAGING THE GOVERNOR AND HIS STAFF TO REVIEW AND FURTHER PURSUE THE CONCEPTS PRESENTED BY THE STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT TASK FORCE IN ITS REPORT TO THE 2006 LEGISLATURE.
