HOUSE COMMEMORATION   NO. 1001

         A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION,  Commending and honoring Michael (Mike) Tennyson of the Custer School District Board on his selection as the 2003-2004 Outstanding School Board Member.

     WHEREAS,  Mike Tennyson is serving in his tenth year as president of the Custer School Board and is the kind of person who commands respect rather than demands respect; and

     WHEREAS,  Mike Tennyson has provided the leadership for the Custer School District's move to the four-day school week and continues to be an integral part of the team traveling to other school districts to present information and respond to questions regarding the four-day school week; and

     WHEREAS,  Mike Tennyson is an important member of the Custer community, able to lead without creating animosity as he continues to be a positive, well-respected, and competent leader for the Custer School District and the Custer community in general:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED,  by the Seventy-ninth Legislature of the State of South Dakota, that Michael (Mike) Tennyson of Custer, South Dakota, be congratulated on his selection as the 2003-2004 Outstanding School Board Member and be commended for his efforts to improve the educational opportunities for the citizens of the state.
