A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION, Honoring Kristina Maddocks of Hecla, South Dakota as
2013 Miss Rodeo South Dakota.
WHEREAS, Kristina has shown loyalty to her community by being an active member of Student
Council, High School Rodeo, and Journalism while a student at Frederick Area High School, a
member of the hippology, horse bowl, and horse judging teams in her twelve years in 4-H, and has
since returned to the area as a feed sales representative; and
WHEREAS, Kristina Maddocks, twenty-two, has shown incredible determination in the sport
of rodeo and at the Miss Rodeo South Dakota contest and won the personality, appearance,
horsemanship, speech, and photogenic categories; and
WHEREAS, Kristina was the first woman to hold all the state rodeo titles including: South
Dakota High School Rodeo Queen, Jr. Miss Rodeo South Dakota, South Dakota 4-H Rodeo
Ambassador, and Miss Rodeo South Dakota; and
WHEREAS, Kristina was successful in earning a degree in Animal Science and Veterinary
Sciences from the University of Wyoming while also being involved in the University of Wyoming
rodeo team, the University of Wyoming equestrian team, the University of Wyoming horse judging
team, and served as an Ag Ambassador; and
WHEREAS, Kristina has distinguished herself as a rodeo queen in South Dakota's official state
sport, and as such, has consistently fulfilled her honorary role as an ambassador for the state of South
Dakota all over the United States:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the Eighty-Eighth Legislature of the State
of South Dakota, that Kristina Maddocks be recognized and congratulated on her many achievements
in rodeo and most notably her recent achievement of being crowned as 2013 Miss Rodeo South
Dakota.
