FOR AN ACT ENTITLED, An Act to revise the membership of the Judicial Qualifications
Commission.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA:
Section 1. That § 16-1A-2 be amended to read as follows:
16-1A-2. There is hereby created a Commission on Judicial Qualifications which shall
consist of seven members:
(1) Two judges of the circuit court, elected by the judicial conference;
(2) Three members of the bar practicing law in this state, no more than two of whom
may be of the same political party, appointed by the president a majority vote of the
state bar commissioners; and
(3) Two citizens who are not judges, retired judges or members of the state bar, and not
of the same political party, appointed by the Governor.
The term of office for a commission member is four years. No person may serve more than
two terms as a member of the commission.
