        A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION, Commending and honoring Parker Elementary School for receiving the National Blue Ribbon Award.

    WHEREAS, the United States Department of Education grants the National Blue Ribbon Award to public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in the students' level of achievement; and
    
    WHEREAS, Parker Elementary School is one of three schools in the state of South Dakota, and is among two-hundred sixty-nine nationwide winners, to receive the award in 2012; and
    
    WHEREAS, Parker Elementary School and the South Dakota schools that received this award are examples of exemplary schools within South Dakota:
    
    NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the Eighty-Eighth Legislature of the State of South Dakota, that the Legislature commends and honors Parker Elementary School staff, students, and families for their efforts and praises them for receiving such a distinguished award.
