        FOR AN ACT ENTITLED, An Act to require that certain information be provided to debtors when entities are collecting certain debts.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA:
    Section 1. Any entity collecting or attempting to collect, directly or indirectly, debts owed or due or asserted to be owed or due another for any medical expense shall contact the debtor at least once in writing stipulating that the entity is contracted to collect on the obligation. The entity shall provide a copy of the claim, invoice, or bill with a summary of the charges owed by the debtor. If requested by the debtor, either orally or in writing, the entity shall provide a second written notice including the copy of the claim, invoice, or bill.
