        FOR AN ACT ENTITLED, An Act to establish provisions to postpone jury duty for breastfeeding or new mothers.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA:
    Section 1. That chapter 16-13 be amended by adding thereto a NEW SECTION to read as follows:
    The clerk shall postpone the jury duty of a woman due to give birth during, or immediately prior to, the scheduled jury duty for a minimum of six weeks after she gives birth if she is not breastfeeding. The clerk of court shall postpone the jury duty of any mother who is breastfeeding her child until she is no longer breastfeeding, up to a maximum of one year. The mother shall submit a written request for postponement of jury duty to the clerk of court or submit her request electronically using the court's juror website within ten days of receiving notice that she has been drawn as a juror.
