FOR AN ACT ENTITLED, An Act to require that all recorded votes of the Legislature be displayed on the Legislative Research Council's internet site and to establish a penalty.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA:
    Section 1. That chapter 2-7 be amended by adding thereto a NEW SECTION to read as follows:

    The Legislative Research Council shall establish and maintain an internet site that is accessible to the public and that includes a record of action by the Legislature on each bill and resolution introduced during each session and special session of the Legislature convened after July 1, 2012. The record shall conform with the journals of the Senate and the House of Representatives, which in accordance with § 2-7-10 constitute the official record of legislative proceedings. Action by the Legislature and its standing committees on each bill and resolution during the session or special session, including all recorded votes on bills and resolutions, shall be displayed on the internet site and be available for viewing by the public. Legislative action on each bill and resolution, including each such recorded vote, shall be prominently marked and

easily accessible from the main page of the internet site and shall be made available in a format that displays each recorded vote by each individual legislator. Any person who knowingly and intentionally falsifies the record is guilty of a Class 6 felony.
