        FOR AN ACT ENTITLED, An Act to revise certain provisions relating to the killing of any mountain lion to protect human life, livestock, or pets.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA:
    Section 1. That § 41-6-29.2 be amended to read as follows:
    41-6-29.2. Any person, licensed or unlicensed, may kill a mountain lion if reasonably necessary to protect the life of that person or some other person. Any person, licensed or unlicensed, who owns or cares for livestock or pets, may kill any mountain lion posing an imminent threat to such person's livestock or pets. The Department of Game, Fish and Parks may promulgate no rule limiting the application of this section. If any mountain lion is killed pursuant to this section, the person who killed the mountain lion shall notify a conservation officer within twenty-four hours of killing the mountain lion. However, the conservation officer may not confiscate the carcass of any mountain lion legally killed in accordance with this section.
    Section 2. The provisions of this Act are retroactive to December 8, 2010.
