The meeting was called to order by Vice-chair Putnam

South Dakota Retirement System

The meeting was staffed by Mr. Bill Pike, LRC (Document 1).

The budget for the South Dakota Retirement System was presented by Al Asher, Administrator.

Discussion took place over the request for 2 new FTE's. Senator Drake asked why the new technology, such as the data processing system, did not relieve the need for more employees. Administrator Asher replied that in the environment that they work in, operating the data processing system is very difficult.

Senator Drake asked how many over time hours were being used. Administrator Asher replied that there were 700 hours of over time used last year.

Senator Duxbury asked what the cost for the 2 new FTE's would be. Administrator Asher replied $63,940.


Senator Kleven asked if South Dakota Retirement required direct deposit to their employees banks. Administrator Asher replied no, it is not required but encouraged.
