The Senate convened at 2:00 p.m., pursuant to adjournment, the President presiding.
The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor James Sumner, followed by the Pledge of
Allegiance led by Senate page Jeffrey Nath.

The Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources respectfully reports that it has had
under consideration SB 40 and returns the same with the recommendation that said bill do pass.
The Committee on Commerce respectfully reports that it has had under consideration SB
35 and returns the same with the recommendation that said bill do pass.
The Committee on Commerce respectfully reports that it has had under consideration SB
34 and 37 and returns the same with the recommendation that said bills do pass and be placed
on the Consent Calendar.
Sen. Rounds moved that a committee of three on the part of the Senate be appointed to
meet with a like committee on the part of the House to make arrangements for a Joint Session
to hear a report by the Governor, the Honorable William J. Janklow, concerning the topics of
juvenile corrections and the tobacco settlement money.
Which motion prevailed and the President appointed as such committee Sens. Rounds,
Everist, and Olson.
Sen. Rounds moved that the report of the Joint-Select Committee relative to fixing
compensation for the Seventy-fifth Legislative Session employees as found on page 28 of the
Senate Journal be adopted.
