     The House convened at 2:00 p.m., pursuant to adjournment, the Speaker presiding.

     The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor Genie Butler, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by House page Karen Williams.

     Roll Call: All members present except Reps. Cutler, Hagen, and Solum who were excused.

APPROVAL OF THE JOURNAL


MR. SPEAKER:

     The Committee on Legislative Procedure respectfully reports that the Chief Clerk of the House has had under consideration the House Journal of the second day.

     All errors, typographical or otherwise, are duly marked in the temporary journal for correction.

     And we hereby move the adoption of the report.

MESSAGES FROM THE SENATE


MR. SPEAKER:

    I have the honor to inform your honorable body that the Senate has appointed Sens. Rounds, Everist, and Olson as a committee of three on the part of the Senate to meet with a like committee on the part of the House to make arrangements for a Joint Session to hear a report by the Governor, the Honorable William J. Janklow, concerning the topics of juvenile corrections and the tobacco settlement money.

Also MR. SPEAKER:

    I have the honor to inform your honorable body that the Senate has adopted the report of the Joint-Select Committee relative to fixing compensation for the elective and appointive officers and members of the Seventy-fifth Legislative Session.

Also MR. SPEAKER:

    I have the honor to inform your honorable body that the Senate has adopted the report of the Joint-Select Committee relative to securing chaplains for the Seventy-fifth Legislative Session.

Also MR. SPEAKER:

    I have the honor to inform your honorable body that the Senate has adopted the report of the Joint-Select Committee relative to making arrangements for the distribution of the official directory, Senate and House journals and bills, and other legislative printing.

MOTIONS AND RESOLUTIONS


     Rep. Smidt moved that a committee of three on the part of the House be appointed to meet with a like committee on the part of the Senate to make arrangements for a Joint Session to hear a report by the Governor, the Honorable William J. Janklow, concerning the topics of juvenile corrections and the tobacco settlement money.

     Which motion prevailed and the Speaker appointed as such committee Reps. Cutler, Eccarius, and Haley.


     Rep. Roe moved that HB 1032 be referred from the Committee on Commerce to the Committee on Health and Human Services.

     Which motion prevailed and the bill was so referred.

CONSIDERATION OF REPORTS OF SELECT COMMITTEES


     Rep. Smidt moved that the report of the Joint-Select Committee relative to the compensation for the elected and appointed officers and employees of the Seventy-fifth Legislative Session as found on page 28 of the House Journal be adopted.

     The question being on Rep. Smidt's motion that the report of the Joint-Select Committee relative to the compensation for the elected and appointed officers and employees of the Seventy-fifth Legislative Session be adopted.
