     SB 148: FOR AN ACT ENTITLED, An Act to require the use of an ignition interlock device in motor vehicles used by certain persons guilty of a second violation of driving under the influence and to provide for certain penalties with regard to ignition interlock devices.

     Sen. Abdallah moved that SB 148 be amended as follows:

     On the printed bill, delete everything after the enacting clause and insert:

     "Section 1. That § 58-11-46 be amended to read as follows:

     58-11-46.   A notice of cancellation of a policy shall be effective only if it is based on one or more of the following reasons:

             (1)      Nonpayment of premium; or

             (2)      The driver's license or motor vehicle registration of the named insured or of any other operator who either resides in the same household or customarily operates an automobile insured under the policy has been under suspension or revocation during the policy period or, if the policy is a renewal, during its policy period or the one hundred eighty days immediately preceding its effective date ;

             (3)    For any person who is insured based upon participation in the 24/7 sobriety program and who is no longer a participant in the 24/7 sobriety program due to noncompliance with the 24/7 sobriety program .

     This section shall not apply to nonrenewal. "
