COMMEMORATIONS


     HC 1008   Introduced by:  Representatives Pummel, Apa, McNenny, and Wetz and Senators Kleven and Bogue

A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION,  Honoring the memory of Butte County Commission     Chairman Kenny Wood and his son Kris.

     WHEREAS,  a tragic plane crash has taken the life of a great leader, Butte County Commission Chairman, Kenny Wood and his son Kris on Saturday, February 6, 1999; and

     WHEREAS,  Kenny Wood has given unselfishly of his time and talents as a volunteer in the United States Peace Corps in South America, served as a public servant for six years on the Belle Fourche School Board, and faithfully served as an elected official on the Butte County Board of County Commissioners for four years; and

     WHEREAS,  Kenny Wood has always promoted the best interests of his community, his state, and especially the agricultural industry of South Dakota, was a loving father, educating his own children to the highest level possible, and was very active in 4-H activities; and

     WHEREAS,  Kenny Wood's son, Kris, who was an airplane mechanic, will be greatly missed:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED,  by the Seventy-fourth Legislature of the State of South Dakota, that Kenny Wood be remembered for his unselfish, unprecedented contributions not only to the State of South Dakota, but to the well-being of the world as a whole.

     Rep. Konold moved that the House do now adjourn, which motion prevailed, and at 4:30 p.m. the House adjourned.
