     The Senate convened at 2:00 p.m., pursuant to adjournment, the President presiding.

     The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Pastor John Fette, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Senate page Jenny Dempster.

COMMEMORATIONS


     SC 6   Introduced by:  Senators Kloucek, Daugaard, Dennert, Dunn (Rebecca), Everist, Flowers, Hainje, Hunhoff, Hutmacher, Morford, Olson, Reedy, Rounds, and Valandra and Representatives Van Gerpen, Chicoine, Crisp, Duxbury, Koetzle, Kooistra, Moore, Munson (Donald), Putnam, and Windhorst

A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION,  Honoring the 1997 Tripp/Delmont Wildcats High     School football team and the students and staff involved in the football program.

     WHEREAS,  the 1997 Tripp/Delmont Wildcats High School football team won the South Dakota 9B High School Football Championship with a perfect 13-0 record by virtue of outstanding character, dedication to excellence, and perseverance on and off the field; and

     WHEREAS,  the Tripp/Delmont Wildcats High School football team received superior wisdom and superb leadership guidance from head coach Steve Benson and assistant coaches Jason Bietz and Don Ludens; and

     WHEREAS,  the Joe Robbie MVP, Jeremiah (J.J.) Gall, and fellow teammates Trent Sabers, Matt Hieb, and Chad Guthmiller were awarded Class 9B First-team All-State Awards for their exceptional performances and dedication during the 1997 season:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED,  by the Seventy-third Legislature of the State of South Dakota, that the Tripp/Delmont Wildcats High School football team be recognized for their excellence in athletics and academics for the 1997-1998 school year.
