Chair Putnam called the meeting to order on February 3, 1997, at 8:05 a.m. in Legislative Conference Room #2 of the Capitol Building, Pierre, South Dakota.

          SB 41:   to make appropriations from the water and environment fund and to declare an emergency.

Representative Duxbury asked that the Committee be provided a list of outstanding fire suppression accounts payable, together with the amount spent on state lands, and the amount pending collection from private entities.

The Chair asked that the Committee be provided with copies of the report written at the request of Senator Frederick; Representative Duxbury specified that a list of grants that were made be included, and also requested information on the progress and operation of the tree farm. The Chair asked for a five-year history and projection of the coordinated soil and water conservation fund.
