    BE IT REMEMBERED, That on the eighth day of January, A.D., two thousand eight, at the hour of twelve o'clock meridian, on the second Tuesday in January, being the day and hour fixed by the Constitution of the state of South Dakota for the convening of the Legislature, the Eighty-third regular session of the House of Representatives in the Capitol, in the city of Pierre, in the county of Hughes, and the state of South Dakota, the seat of government thereof, was called to order by Chris Nelson, the Secretary of State of the state of South Dakota.

    The following prayer was offered by Pastor Diane Jackson, Lutheran Memorial Church, Pierre, South Dakota:

    Creating God, as Your world continues to adapt and be adapted by we who have been placed here, strengthen our commitment to search out and do Your will each day. Lead us to those places needing Your touch and to those issues touching people's lives. Bless this House and these who have been called as leaders, their families and the people of this great state whom they represent. Bring Your spirit to rest on all those here gathered that this day's work and that of the days to come will bring about Your will in Your world, in Your name and to Your glory. Amen.
