Gracious God, as we open this 2009 session of the House, I give You thanks for these men
and women who will serve so capably in their responsibilities. Thank You for their willingness
to serve this state, and to make the sacrifices and adjustments required of them. I ask that You
would watch over their families during the times of separation, and grant them Your peace. May
Your wisdom be theirs, and may they have an understanding of the times we are living in, so
that they can lead wisely. These things I pray for Your honor, Amen.

Sen. Knudson moved that a committee of three on the part of the Senate and a committee of four on the part of the House be appointed to escort the Honorable M. Michael Rounds, Governor of the State of South Dakota, to the rostrum.
The Sergeant at Arms announced the arrival of the Honorable M. Michael Rounds, who
was escorted to the rostrum.
The Lieutenant Governor, Dennis Daugaard, introduced the Honorable M. Michael
Rounds, who delivered the State of the State Address.
