On page 2, line 3, of the printed bill, delete everything after "Affix" and insert "a sticker
containing a reproduction of the seal of the State of South Dakota as provided in section 3 of this Act
to the diploma and note".
On page 2, delete lines 7 to 10, inclusive, and insert:
"
To implement the state seal of literacy program, the secretary of state shall:
(1) Authorize the Department of Education to purchase stickers containing a full color
reproduction of the seal of the State of South Dakota in a size large enough for the state
motto to be legible; and
(2) Authorize the department to issue to participating school districts, nonpublic schools, and
persons providing alternative instruction one sticker for each student who meets the
requirements in section 4 of this Act.".
On page 3, after line 2, insert:
" Section 5. That chapter 13-1 be amended by adding a NEW SECTION to read:
At the conclusion of each school year, the Department of Education shall report to the Governor,
to the Legislature, and to the secretary of state the number of students who met the requirements of
this Act and were awarded a state seal of civics literacy.".
