minors.

Ultraviolet radiation from tanning devices penetrates skin cells and damages DNA, leading to a variety of skin cancers including potentially lethal malignant melanoma. Each year, more than 419,000 cases of skin cancer in the United States are linked to indoor tanning. Recognizing this, the United States Food and Drug Administration recently reclassified indoor tanning devices to Class 2 (moderate to high risk) and issued a strong recommendation against the use of tanning beds by minors.
