    The House convened at 2:00 p.m., pursuant to adjournment, the Speaker presiding.

    The prayer was offered by the Chaplain, Larry Cass, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by House pages Alannah Aesoph, Payton Jones, and Levi Knight.

Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a motor vehicle overtaking a bicycle proceeding in the same direction may partially cross the highway centerline or the dividing line between two lanes of travel in the same direction if it can be performed safely ".

COMMEMORATIONS

    HC 1014 Introduced by: Representatives Bartling, Peterson (Kent), Qualm, and Schoenfish and Senators Sutton and Van Gerpen

        A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION, commending and honoring the community of Wagner, South Dakota, for its celebration of 115 years of hosting the Wagner Labor Day festivities.

    WHEREAS, the community of Wagner has a long-standing tradition of honoring its hardworking citizens from the local community and surrounding areas, dating back to 1910; and

    WHEREAS, the Wagner Labor Day celebration consists of a carnival, games, rodeos, Festival in the Park and craft booths, live music, the annual Labor Day Queen contest, and dances in the evening; and

    WHEREAS, the finale of the weekend is the annual Labor Day parade, which is a fun-filled gathering for friends and families to enjoy the many exhibitions of area organizations, businesses, individuals, and the youth of the Wagner School District; and

    WHEREAS, the first Wagner Labor Day celebration in 1910 brought in over 10,000 people to share in the festivities and the 100th year celebration in 2000 brought in well over 10,000 people to enjoy the weekend:

    NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the Ninetieth Legislature of the State of South Dakota, that the Community of Wagner and all of its residents be commended for the exceptional Labor Day celebrations for the past 115 years, and for more celebrations to come.
