The following prayer was offered by Pastor Donald Block:
Gracious God, we give you thanks for this session of the South Dakota Senate and for all
the people who have worked so hard and tirelessly to bring the bills before us and to help in the
process of having a good government. In Martin Luther's explanation to the "Lord's Prayer" he
writes that one of the things we need in our daily bread is "good government", and we give you
thanks for the government that we have here in South Dakota and that we can have open and
honest debate among each other as we seek to do what is best for the residents of South Dakota.
With the close of the session today, that does not mean that the work of government ends. We
pray that you will give guidance to our government as they implement different aspects of the
laws that have been passed and as they work to do the assigned tasks over the coming months.
Continue to be with the process of our government as they make preparation for the 2015
session and consider bills and write bills that will be brought forth for consideration next year.
Guide our government as it works each day to do the daily tasks of government of the State of
South Dakota. Pour your blessings on the State of South Dakota, on the government and all who
work for the State of South Dakota, and on all of the residents of South Dakota. Amen.
