AMENDMENT 195A

THE INTRODUCED BILL

An Act to make an appropriation for grants to support public transit.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of South Dakota:
Section 1. There
is appropriated $1
$825,000
from the general fund, to the Department of Transportation, for
grants and loans for the future ridership demands of public transit.
The Transportation Commission shall make grants or loans pursuant to
section 2 of this Act.
Section 2. The Transportation Commission shall approve the expenditure and disbursement of grants or loans, from the moneys appropriated in section 1 of this Act, to be used for:
1) Matching federal moneys;
2) The planning, development, and operation of public transit; or
3) Construction and maintenance of transit facilities.
Section 3. The secretary of the Department of Transportation shall approve vouchers and the state auditor shall draw warrants to pay expenditures authorized in this Act.
Section 4. Any amounts appropriated in this Act not lawfully expended or obligated shall revert in accordance with the procedures prescribed in chapter 4-8.
Section 5. This Act is effective beginning June 29, 2025.
