AMENDMENT 1264A FOR THE INTRODUCED BILL

An Act to make an appropriation for the Liaison for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons Office, and to declare an emergency.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of South Dakota:
Section 1. The attorney general shall assist the Office of Liaison for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons, as established by the Ninety-Sixth Legislature of the State of South Dakota and codified at § 23A-28C-16.That enactment directs the attorney general to provide training, employ staff, and seek federal cooperation and funding on behalf of the newly created entity.
Section 2.
There
is hereby appropriated from the general fund the sum of
$84,848
$424,240, to the Office of the Attorney General, for purposes of
staffing and training a 1.0 full-time equivalent position for the
Office of Liaison for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons for
one year
five years.
Section 3. The attorney general shall approve vouchers and the state auditor shall draw warrants to pay expenditures authorized by this Act.
Section 4. Any amounts appropriated in this Act not lawfully expended or obligated by July 1, 2023, shall revert in accordance with the procedures prescribed in chapter 4-8.
Section 5. WHEREAS, this Act is necessary for the support of the state government and its existing public institutions, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
