AMENDMENT 1265B FOR THE INTRODUCED BILL

An Act to
make an
appropriation for the improvement of the state
radio
system in South Dakota and to declare an emergency.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of South Dakota:
Section 1. There
is hereby appropriated from the general fund the sum of
$3,200,000$800,000
to the Bureau of Information and Telecommunications, for purposes of
providing:
(1) A
sum of $800,000 to reimburse Pennington County for the construction
of three radio towers in the Black Hillspurchase
the necessary electronics and antenna systems to upgrade the
equipment at the Hot Springs and Reliance state radio towers; and
(2) A sum of $2,400,000 to expand
coverage of the state radio system in the Black Hills by adding
additional state radio tower sites and the necessary equipment and
antenna systems for the radio towers to be operational.
Section 2. The commissioner of the Bureau of Information and Telecommunications shall approve vouchers and the state auditor shall draw warrants to pay expenditures authorized by this Act.
Section 3. Any amounts appropriated in this Act not lawfully expended or obligated by June 30, 2025, shall revert in accordance with the procedures prescribed in chapter 4-8.
Section 4. Whereas, this Act is necessary for the support of the state government and its existing public institutions, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
