Section 1. That chapter 13-53 be amended by adding thereto a NEW SECTION to read as
follows:
Any person who is a veteran as defined by §§ 33A-2-1 and 33A-2-2 shall be classified as a
resident student without meeting the twelve-month residency requirement within South Dakota
pursuant to § 13-53-24.
Section 2. That § 13-53-24 be amended to read as follows:
13-53-24. A person entering the state from another state or country does not at that time acquire
residence for the purpose of §§ 13-53-23 to 13-53-41, inclusive, unless, except as provided in § 13-53-29 or section 1 of this Act, such person is a resident for twelve months in order to qualify as a
resident student for tuition and fee purposes. "
