"
Section 1. There is hereby created the Midwifery Advisory Task Force. The task force shall study
the issues of, and draft the legislation for, the practice and regulation of certified professional
midwives. The task force shall also study the impact of current regulation and licensure of certified
nurse midwives. The task force shall be staffed by the Department of Health and consist of the
following members:
(1) A member of the Senate appointed by the President Pro Tempore;
(2) A member of the House of Representatives appointed by the Speaker of the House;
(3) A representative of the Department of Health;
(4) A representative of the South Dakota Nurses' Association;
(5) A representative of the South Dakota Medical Association; and
(6) Three members of the South Dakota Safe Childbirth Options.
The task force shall submit a report and legislation to the Executive Board of the Legislative
Research Council no later than December 1, 2010."
